The FSWP is part of Canada’s new Express Entry system and to be considered for it, one must have a minimum of 67 points out of 100 on the FSWP point’s assessment grid. These points assess your eligibility based on six selection factors:
• Proficiency in English and/or French is crucial.
• Points are awarded based on your performance in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.
• Higher scores in approved tests like IELTS, CELPIP, TEF, or TCF can earn you up to 24 points.
• An additional 4 points are available if you’re proficient in a second language.
• Points are awarded based on your highest level of education.
• For foreign degrees, an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) is required.
• A PhD earns the full 25 points, while a high school diploma earns fewer points.
• Points are based on the number of years of paid skilled work experience (NOC TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3).
• One year of experience earns 9 points, while 6+ years earn the full 15 points.
• Young people, under 18 to 35 years old are given 12 points for obtaining the highest scores.
• Points decrease as age increases, with no points for those over 47.
• Points are awarded if you have a valid job offer from a Canadian employer.
• Points are based on factors like your spouse’s language skills, previous Canadian work or study experience, or having relatives in Canada.
To qualify for consideration in the Express Entry pool at least 67 points are required, however, to be given an ITA for PR one has to possess a high CRS score.
