The New Zealand Parent Resident Visa allows Permanent residents or citizens to sponsor their parents to New Zealand.

This is a two-stage process:

• First, the Applicant needs to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
• Second, upon selection, an applicant will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) and have 4 months to make a residence application.

What does the annual quota say?
INZ can approve up to 2000 visas per year for those who submitted EOIs before the selections resumed on October 10, 2022. These EOIs are queued and picked in date order, with the oldest chosen first.
People who submit EOIs on or after October 10, 2022, are eligible for a maximum of 500 visas per year. These EOIs are placed on a ballot and picked at random. EOIs on the ballot expire two years after they are submitted.
Once all of the EOIs in the queue submitted before October 10, 2022, have been selected, the full 2,500 visas will be available to persons with EOIs on the ballot.
